The digital career
information evening - an evening of experience from the world of work
Every year at the end of January, pupils in Years 11 and 12 at the Landheim are invited to this interesting information evening. A few days before the event, they have already registered with the coordinator at the Landheim, Dr Köhler, for the professional fields or areas of study that interest them personally. In the Altlandheimerbund, the responsible board member Dr Jan Häser has been able to attract interesting speakers from the Altlandheim community to report on their professional practice - and how they got there. This year, these were Dr Constanze May for the field of medicine, Charlotte Meier for law, Julia Jäcklin for engineering, Dr Annette-Louise Hirmer for business administration, Dr Markus Kirchgeorg for the first time with real estate management and Maxi Grebe for environmental protection/sustainability.
Unfortunately, the career information evening had to take place digitally this year. This did not replace the personal dialogue with the speakers - but it is a good alternative in the coronavirus era. As with the face-to-face events in previous years, after the welcome, there were three consecutive time slots of 20 minutes each, in which the speakers described their current professional position and presented their training and career path up to that point, after which they were available to answer questions from the students and, if necessary, offer internships. For this purpose, maths and physics teacher Felix Platzer had set up a separate virtual seminar room in MS Teams for each of the speakers, into which the students interested in the topic then dialled in.
The alumni association of the Landheim, the "Altlandheimerbund", pursues two main purposes: it provides a large part of its association fees so that the workshops for the students can be equipped even better and more versatile and it sees its responsibility in preparing the students of the Landheim as informed as possible for their future after the Abitur.
