Learning from one another, having fun together

International Summer Camp for children aged 9 to 13 years

Every year, for two weeks, international and German children aged between 9 and 13 can look forward to a special experience at Landheim Ammersee: language tuition in English or German combined with a varied leisure programme centred around Lake Ammersee. During this time, participants get a first-hand taste of what boarding school life is all about and discover why Landheim Ammersee is such a special place.

Deutschunterricht im International Summer Camp

Mornings: Language lessons

The morning is devoted to language learning – four hours of interactive lessons with native-speaking teachers. In English or German. In small groups and across three different language levels, we focus specifically on developing:

  • Oral expression
  • Vocabulary and grammar
  • Written language skills
  • Knowledge of the country

We are particularly proud of our joint Summer Camp newspaper, which documents the children’s experiences and learning progress – a genuine collaborative project.

Afternoons: Action, creativity & team spirit

In the afternoon, participants put together their own programme. The courses promote team spirit, creativity, physical activity and self-confidence – and are simply great fun! From a wide range of exciting courses, they choose two to attend for one week each:

  • English Drama
  • Tennis on the school’s own clay court
  • Water sports (sailing, kayaking, pedalos, rowing, stand-up paddleboarding at our own jetty)
  • Team sports (hockey, basketball, football and more)
  • Climbing
  • Art
  • Crafts
Kletterspaß am Seil
Bootsfahrt auf dem Ammersee
Klettern and er Kletterwand
Kajak fahren auf dem Lech
Rückkehr nach einem Segeltag
Grillen am Staffelsee

Weekend: Get out into nature!

This weekend is all about exploring the nearby mountains with a range of adventure activities. You can choose from multi-day excursions such as:

  • Summit treks with overnight stays in mountain huts in the Zugspitze massif
  • A weekend at our school’s own mountain hut on Lake Staffelsee – with barbecues, swimming, hiking and adventure games, far away from everyday life, right in the heart of the nature reserve.
  • Survival: Left to fend for themselves in the heart of the wilderness, the group uses a map and compass to navigate their way to a secret location.
