FAQ Admission Process
Below you will find our FAQs on admission. If your question is not included, we will be happy to help you personally, by phone or by e-mail.How often are the children allowed to go home at weekends?
The children in the Landheim can go home every second weekend. In the A-weeks there are lessons on Saturdays and then boarding school weekends with a varied programme. In the B-weeks the week ends on Friday after lessons at 3.00 p.m. and those who wish can go home. There is also the option of spending the B-weekends at the boarding school.
Can the children stay at the boarding school during the holidays?
During the holiday periods, the school is completely closed and the children cannot stay at the boarding school. For our international students, we offer the opportunity to stay at the boarding school during the one-week holidays (autumn and carnival) and to attend a holiday course during the autumn holidays.
Is the children's laundry washed and how often?
In keeping with our value of "responsibility", there are washing machines and tumble dryers in all the houses, which the children can use independently. Each house also has an iron and ironing board. Bed linen and towels are cleaned free of charge in the laundry room.
Are children allowed to use their smartphones?
Mobile phones may not be carried during school hours. The same applies to the use of devices in the dining hall and during workshops. There are differentiated mobile phone rules for free time depending on the class level.
What does the timetable look like?
Detailed class schedules will be published at the beginning of the new school year. Please ask the school for a copy if you are interested.
What do the children need at boarding school (equipment list)?
Before the start of school and every year before the start of the new school year, all students receive a detailed information pack about life at the boarding school, including a packing list. If you are interested, please ask the school for the latest copy.

Do the children get pocket money?
Pocket money is paid every fortnight and varies depending on the class level.
Which universities are attended after graduation?
There is no general answer to this question, because the careers of our alumni are as varied as the interests, talents and career goals of our students. The fact is that our international student body takes up studies both in Germany and abroad and the vast majority of graduates opt for a university degree. A good Abitur and a school career at Landheim open the doors to this.
From Year 10 onwards, all students at Landheim receive career counselling from two experienced advisors. They also complete work placements in Year 10. In addition, teachers, parents, alumni and experts are also on hand to provide advice and support through the Landheim network.
Is there vegan, lactose-free, gluten-free cuisine?
Yes, if we are informed accordingly, we are happy to take intolerances or restrictions into account when providing care. However, a special diet for medical reasons requires a doctor's certificate.
What sports programme is available?
From B for basketball to F for football and H for hockey to V for volleyball, the Landheim offers a number of sports disciplines, including rowing, triathlon, fitness and sailing (just a selection).
What is the children's daily routine like?
The daily routine at the Landheim is similar for all age groups. We start in the morning with the morning celebration. Lessons take place in the morning until the early afternoon, divided into learning centres, breakfast and lunch breaks. After the last learning centre, the children go to the workshops, depending on their age
Each timetable is somewhat individualised due to the options available, but still offers a fixed structure. In the evening, there is a daily quiet hour in the houses, during which homework and learning support is offered. Of course, there are also phases of free time and inactivity, which can be spent alone or with friends.
Here you will find examples of daily routines:
Are girls and boys accommodated separately?

How does the application process work?
The application process usually starts with a telephone call or directly with the submission of your application documents. After we have reviewed the documents, we will arrange an appointment with you for an admissions interview. On this day, you and your child will receive detailed information about the school and life at the boarding school and get to know our campus during a student tour.
You can find a detailed description on the Admission & Scholarships page .
How high are the school fees?
You can find the current school fees on the Admission & Scholarships page .
What happens if the children fall ill, e.g. with a cold?
Anyone who feels ill in the morning should report this to their housemother or directly to the nurse. From 7.00 a.m. every morning, our school nurses hold a consultation in the infirmary, where they administer medication if necessary and/or give bed rest and look after the sick child. They remain in the infirmary until there is no longer any risk of infection and the child's well-being improves.
Is psychological counselling available?
Yes, in addition to the house adults as central contact persons, there is both a school psychologist and a professionally trained counsellor for support in personal emergencies.
Can you only come to the country home for a few months?
We offer the option of an annual contract. Trimester visits are strongly dependent on capacity and must be clarified on a case-by-case basis.
Which foreign languages are offered?
In principle, the boarding grammar school follows the curriculum of G9 grammar schools in Bavaria. Accordingly, English is taught as the first foreign language from Year 5. In Year 6, there is a choice between Latin and French. From Year 8, students can choose either Spanish as a third foreign language or the economics and social sciences stream.
Can my child live at the boarding school "on trial"?
If the admission process is successful, the school offers trial days for children in grades 5 to 10: your child will then take part in boarding school and school life for three days. The fee is 150 € and will be credited to the school and boarding school fees when the contract is signed in the same school year. Appointments are made with the Admissions Department.
