Knud von Harbou: The possible after the impossible

The resistance fighter Count von Moltke was a pupil at the Landheim Schondorf on Lake Ammersee from 1923. This and the fact that 23 January 2025 was the 80th anniversary of his death and execution was one of the reasons that inspired Knud von Harbou to give his lecture "The possible after the impossible - in memory of Helmut James Count von Moltke". However, it was even more decisive that the person of Moltke with his liberal attitude, his actions in the Third Reich and his position in the heterogeneous resistance movement "Kreisau Circle" are aspects that have been researched and published far too little to date.

In his lecture, the historian and journalist von Harbou presented Moltke's personal circumstances on the basis of the extensive correspondence just as intensively as the specific historical circumstances and the interrelationships of the Landkreis Kreisau.

The atmosphere in the very well-filled lecture hall of the Landheim was remarkably calm and concentrated during the almost two-hour lecture and the subsequent discussion, which may have been due to Harbou's dense lecture - and above all to the topicality of the subject.
