The readings at Landheim Ammersee, which we organise in cooperation with the Timbooktu bookshop, are very popular, well attended and often sold out in Landheim Ammersee as well as on the western shores of Lake Ammer (and beyond). This is not really surprising, because the combination of culture and entertainment, challenging and entertaining books presented and read aloud by the authors themselves, the opportunity to talk to the author and to each other afterwards over wine and snacks, and the beautiful setting speak for themselves.

About the book: ‘Unter den Wolken’ (Under the Clouds)

Bogdahn's debut ‘Unter den Wolken’ describes his journey through Germany to the highest mountains in all 16 federal states, always with celebrity support. He was on the Zugspitze with Felix Neureuther, on Berlin's highest mountain, the Großer Müggelberg, with Judith Holofernes (Wir sind Helden), on the Bungsberg in Holstein Switzerland with Rocko Schamoni, and on the Wurmberg with Bishop Käßmann. He travelled to all the mountains by public transport and stayed overnight via couch surfing. There were plenty of mishaps, snow and train disasters, and bizarre encounters. The book is about all of this.

‘Unter den Wolken’ became a top 50 SPIEGEL bestseller and has taken Achim ‘Sechzig’ Bogdahn on a seemingly endless reading tour for three years. He has presented the book over 150 times, from Buxtehude in the north to Germany's southernmost bookshop in Oberstdorf, and has given readings in casinos, cinemas, furniture stores, outdoor swimming pools, at the police station, in a circus tent and in living rooms. Now he is coming to Ammersee and has a lot to tell …

About the author

Bogdahn grew up in Erlangen and Munich and studied Protestant theology in Munich, Berlin and Glasgow. He has worked for Bayerischer Rundfunk since 1991, presenting the programmes Zündfunk and "Eins zu Eins. Der Talk" on Bayern 2 as well as Tagesgespräch, which is also broadcast in parallel on ARD-alpha. He has also become an author.
