Marc Bernreuther

"From rebel to exceptional athlete - how sport saved my life"

Christina Ingerfurth
Marc Bernreuther from Altlandheim was a guest at the Entrepreneur lecture series and took the Landheim school community on his incredible journey.

His achievements and world records are remarkable - among others:

  • 11.000 km by bike from Germany to Vietnam
  • 612 km on foot through Sri Lanka
  • World record on the treadmill
  • 220 km swim run across 53 islands in Finland
  • Challenge 120

But the greatest treasures Marc shared were his life lessons:

  • Consistency is key – development needs patience and training!
  • Development is never linear
  • Teamwork makes the dream work – Look for like-minded people and support each other.
  • Have fun – you can only stay motivated in the long term if you have fun.

At the end of the presentation, Foundation Director Rüdiger Häusler took up a special format that Marc runs together with @jonas_deichmann: the podcast "Deichmann vs. Edelsepp", in which the two of them set each other challenging micro-challenges. There could soon be such a challenge at the Landheim too – Marc has been officially invited to take on a micro-challenge with the Landheimers!

A morning full of motivation that not only inspired the Landheim triathletes led by coach Thomas Tietz. Afterwards, numerous pupils took the opportunity to talk to Marc - the teachers' library was filled to capacity.
