Rooms for living, retreats for well-being Living
Security at every age
We cannot replace the family. But we can offer a second home. A second home where children and young people feel safe and secure and which gives them the opportunity to discover their independence. Just as we have done for teaching, we have also developed age-appropriate concepts for accommodation and communal living at Landheim Ammersee.
Lower school
Boys and girls from Years 5 to 7, affectionately known as ‘frogs’ at our school, live on campus in the Weiglhaus and Erlenhaus buildings. They stay in twin rooms and live in the same building as their house parents. This means that the children always have a contact person available.
Another important contact person for every frog is their mentor, a student from the middle or upper school who supports the younger student in all matters during their settling-in period. Joint activities at the weekend or even tutoring strengthen the friendship of this team, which often lasts beyond the school years.
Middle school
Middle school students are accommodated in houses with twin rooms throughout the campus. They are looked after by house parents and, compared to the younger students, are given greater freedom, which they can use responsibly. For example, by mentoring younger students, organising projects and events, or getting involved in social services outside the boarding school.
Upper school
Students in Years 11, 12 and 13 usually live in double rooms in boys' or girls' houses in the new beech houses on campus. Although the last two years at school are focused on achieving university entrance qualifications and the traditional class structure is no longer in place, communal living in the form of tutorials and community services continues to be highly valued.
Responsibility for younger students is also not forgotten, for example through tutoring or leading sports groups. After completion of Year 13, we recognise special services to the community with prizes and honours.

Innovative architecture for young people
Modern, award-winning architecture as value and appreciation …
… meets roots with old-building charm in Haus Elisabeth.
The communal halls are the central meeting place in the Buchenhäuser.
The girls feel at home in the Meierei, the boys in the Altlandheim.
The Landheim Campus
It doesn't get any more beautiful than this
The Landheim Campus is a place to arrive and feel at home – in the middle of nature, characterised by community, openness and inspiration. Learning, living and experiencing come together here to create a unique atmosphere that enriches everyone.
Learning in the school garden
Many types of fruit and vegetables come directly from our own school garden. Together with our nature and environmental educator, the pupils work in the ‘gardening & beekeeping’ workshop – they plant, tend and harvest, thus experiencing first-hand what sustainable management means. Some of the harvest is used directly in the Landheim kitchen or enjoyed by the entire student body, for example as apple juice.
Small animals with a big impact
Our apiary is a special project: since 2018, we have been providing a home for six bee colonies here. The pupils work hands-on with the bees, under supervision and with intensive guidance, and are actively involved in honey production. Above all, they learn about the importance of bees for our ecosystem – and how important it is to actively protect nature.
Nature & sustainability – responsibility for today and tomorrow
Landheim Ammersee is nestled in a unique natural area covering around 16.5 hectares. This site is not only home to our pupils, but also provides a habitat for numerous species, some of which have become rare.
Acting consciously, living sustainably
As a foundation, we see it as our duty to treat this valuable heritage with care. Sustainability is not just a buzzword for us, but part of our everyday life: from consistent waste separation in all buildings and consciously avoiding plastic in our kitchen to using regional products.
Region
Idyllic setting between the Zugspitze and the State Opera
Landheim Ammersee is located where Bavaria shows its most beautiful side: between sparkling lakes, mountain panoramas and the cultural stages and diverse events of the surrounding metropolises of Munich and Augsburg. Here, nature experiences meet big city inspiration, tranquillity meets diversity, vastness meets the world. A place that combines both: breathing in nature and looking out over the horizon.
